"Castlewood provides an integrated model of therapies recognizing the importance of reversing the starvation and/or bingeing/purging state."


Treatment Philosophy:

"To provide the highest quality, multi-modal intervention to facilitate the fullest recovery possible."


Family Program:

"Family weekends, family therapy and multi-family didactic group therapy: by focusing on recognition of eating disorder pathology within the family system. Residents improve family functioning through the exploration of family rules, roles, feelings, needs and communication styles."


Position On 12 Step Involvement:

"None, but if appropriate clients may attend AA meetings."


Position On Approach to Compulsive Overeating vs. Anorexia/Bulimia:

"Treatment goals include the restoration of body weight to near ideal, understanding and developing healthy eating behaviours, increasing autonomy from compuslive patterns and facilitating an enchanced attitude toward self and body."


Additional Characteristics:

"Body image work, movement therapy, Yoga and supervised exercise are tailored to each resident's needs in order to facilitate increased comfort and respect for the body. Multidisciplinry team includes: Therapist experienced in the treatment of eating disorders, nutritionist, occupational therapist, 24-hour nursing staff, family therapists, psychologist, psychiatrist, internist, full-time chefs and expressive therapist."

GENERAL:

    Number of Beds: 20
    Population Served: Clients 16 & older who have an eating disorder. Residents must be voluntary and able to access staff supports to stay safe. We can accept patients who require tube feeding but only those above 60% ideal body weight.
