"In Its Own Words"

STATISTICS

Self Description:

"The Center for Hope of the Sierras is an individualized residential treatment program offering holistic care emphasizing the importance for individuals experiencing eating disorders to take their emotional and physical needs seriously."

Treatment Philosophy:

"We believe that individuals with eating disorders are unique, creative, caring, and sensitive individuals who may struggle to find a connection with their true inner spirit. To recover, they work on developing a sense of their own spirit and self, and a belief that their emotions are valid, important, and worth noticing."

Family Program:

"Family therapy is offered and encouraged and is done either in person or via telephone if necessary. Family visits are encouraged and weekend intensive family therapy is provided when possible."

Position On Approach to Compulsive Overeating vs. Anorexia/Bulimia:

"Treatment is aimed toward helping individuals with all eating disorders to learn to attend to their physical and emotional needs in a meaningful way thereby eliminating the role of the eating disorder behavior."

Additional Characteristics:

"Clients are encouraged to redefine life on terms which are of value and meaning to them. We encourage community outings and involvement and also encourage short term follow up visits through our unique Alumni Intensive Program. We also have onsite equine assisted psychotherapy, as well as yoga, massage, music, art and othe therapies."
