Self Description:

"Chemical dependency treatment to meet the distinctive needs of older adults (55 and over). Medically complex patients are considered for admission."


Treatment Philosophy:

"Chemical dependency is a treatable disease. It's never too late for an older adult to experience recovery,extend their lives, and improve overall quality of life."


Approach to Dual Diagnosis:

"Psychiatric evaluations completed by consulting psychiatrist (an addictionologist) when indicated, and medication may be prescribed. Careful consideration to use medications which can be effective in relieving psychiatric symptoms without threatening recovery."


Family Program:

"2 weekend residential program is psychoeducational, and participants learn the effects of addiction on the family, on the health and well-being of chemically dependent and co-dependent persons, and recovery resources for the whole family."


Position on 12 Step Involvement:

"Participation in 12 Step groups is required during treatment and each individualized continuing care plan includes ongoing involvement in a mutual support group."


Position on Confrontation:

"Non-confrontational. Dignity and respect are critical values and motivational strategies bring attention to ambivalence, discrepancies and contradictions in addictive thinking and help patients move to next stage in the change process."


Additional Characteristics:

"Accommodates individuals at various stages of activity/mobility. Services include: aquatic therapy, outside AA, fitness room, gym. Single story building holds all services. Medically complex patients are considered for admission."
