"Waryas House is a community residence and two year substance abuse treatment program for people with mental retardationand developmental disabilities."

Treatment Philosophy:

"To provide a safe and sober environment in which to learn how to live a sober, independent and gratifying life within the limits of each person's ability."

Approach to Dual Diagnosis:

"While we accept triplely diagnosed clients (mentally retarded - mentally ill - substance abuse), those with a psychiatraic diagnosis must be stabilized before admission."

Position on 12 Step Involvement:

"The 12 Step philosophy is adapted to accomodate the cognitive needs of the mentally retarded population, and clients are active in community 12-step programs."

"Confrontational techniques are specifically designed for the developmentally disabled population."
